From The Other Side Of The Classroom

How did one teacher change everything? Natanel Azoulay’s story spans a journey from his childhood in Jerusalem 22 years ago, through coping with bullying at school and feelings of alienation, to coming out of the closet, finding love, and starting a family.

As a closeted child forced to survive a harsh reality, an encounter with one teacher changed his life and led to a journey of self-discovery, growth, and learning. This journey eventually led him to stand on the other side of the classroom as an educator committed to creating a more inclusive and equal educational environment.

In the lecture, Natanel talks about his path in the world openly and honestly - about the power to believe in yourself in the face of barriers and challenges, and about the responsibility of educators, parents, and communities to create a place where every child can feel safe to be who they truly are.
