Proud Family, Proud Kids

In a candid, fascinating, and humor-filled lecture, Assaf Huri shares his journey – from a 12-year-old boy who came out of the closet, through his service as a combat company commander in the IDF, to establishing a proud family with his partner Zion and the birth of their twins.

The lecture offers a glimpse into the world of LGBTQ parenting, its beauty, and the challenges it brings. Assaf describes the daily interactions with society – how do you explain to kindergarten children that they have two fathers? How do you respond to questions and reactions from the environment? And how do you raise children who are confident in themselves and their family, in a world that is still learning to accept proud families?

Through personal stories, magical moments, and complex challenges, Assaf provides insights into his unique parenting journey and invites the audience to an open dialogue about acceptance, love, and equality.
